Mexico and it's colorful and varied locations can make for a family vacation to be remembered for years. As with all travel with children there are some things to take note of:
Documentation
As of 2005 all children must have a passport valid for 6 months from the date of departure to travel in Mexico. Be sure to visit Travel Tips for additional entry requirements to your Mexico destination
Sun Safety
Be safe in the sun, remember Mexico's intense sun and apply sun block any time your family will be outside. Be especially careful when at archeological sites where you will be exposed to the sun for extended periods of time.
Altitude
Many of Mexico's locations are at a high altitude. This can be hard on children conditioned to living near sea level. If you are visiting one of these locations allow for plentiful breaks.
Necessities
While most common items you might need such as diapers, toothpaste and sun block are easily available in most of Mexico. Be sure to consider your destination and how remote it may be when packing. And remember, pack any specialty creams or over the counter medications as well as prescriptions for your children.
