Monte Alban
Monte Alban was founded by the Zapotecs in 250 A.D. on top of a hill that was almost leveled to create the great square and pyramidal buildings. Archaeological discoveries disclosed that the city was a political, religious center, and a medicine school for ancient civilizations. It was occupied by the Mixtecs until the conquest. The original name is unknown and the present name was given by the Spaniards. The view from Monte Alban is extremely beautiful.
