Airport Information
Cancún International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún) is 8km (5mi) south of the city center, two hours by air from México City and just one hour from Miami. The airport serves a busy traffic load of regional and international flights. Many flights to and from Cancún also stop at Cozumel. Airport code: CUN

Weather/Climate
Cancún weather is fantastic year-round. High temperatures average in the high 80s, while lows are only in the 70s. The rainy season runs from May through October, while the dry season is November through April. May and June are the most sweltering months, with high humidity, rainfall and temperatures, while the winter months are generally pleasant.

City Layout
There are really two Cancúns: Isla Cancún (Cancún Island) and Ciudad Cancún (Cancún City). The latter, on the mainland, has restaurants, shops, and less-expensive hotels, as well as pharmacies, dentists, automotive shops, banks, travel and airline agencies, and car-rental firms -- all within an area about 9 blocks square. The city's main thoroughfare is Avenida Tulum. Heading south, Avenida Tulum becomes the highway to the airport and to Tulum and Chetumal; heading north, it intersects the highway to Mérida and the road to Puerto Juárez and the Isla Mujeres ferries.

Local Customs
Both men and women should dress conservatively. Recommended colors are navy and dark gray. Women should always wear make-up. Dress in Cancún is very casual with the accent on comfort. Remember to pack comfortable walking shoes. The activities at the hotels and the area dictate sporting clothes. In the evenings, you may want to dress up, but not too much. At some of the best entertainment spots and clubs you will feel more comfortable dressing up. However, black tie or any tie for that matter is not required.
